CITYTEAM: FEED THE HOMELESS, SEPTEMBER 7TH
The first Sunday night of the month we always make dinner for the people at CityTeam. This is a great opportunity to serve those most needy in Oakland: the homeless and the addicted. It is also a wonderful way to get to know people from the church by serving together. We start at 6 PM preparing food and serve it at 8 PM. Interested in helping? Contact Mark at mrichard@berkeley.edu.
CITY TEAM MEAL PREPARERS/SERVERS NEEDED
Once a month on the first Sunday night, from 6:00-8:20 PM, a team of servant volunteers from All Nations prepares and serves a hot meal for 80-130 homeless people at CityTeam in downtown Oakland. The Wednesday night Community group has shouldered the largest part of this service and is seeking extra help and even an alternative team to do the ministry in alternate months. Would you or your community group serve in this way? Notify the church office, anpcoffice@aol.com.
EAST BAY FAITH NETWORK NEEDS HELPERS FOR OAKLAND PUBLIC SCHOOLS!
The East Bay Faith Network is a tremendously effective coalition of churches, organizations and individuals to act on their values to help schools, families and communities develop students who have acquired the skills and attitudes that will maximize their full potential and enhance their participation as responsible, contributing members of society.
Several ANPC attenders volunteer and contribute financially to this worthy ministry. They currently are training volunteers for the following roles. You may gain more information from their website at: Faith Network of the East Bay, 2633 Telegraph Ave. #409 (510) 836-5100 Contact persons: Randy Roth or Chelsea Boniak, website: www.faith-network.com
Tutoring - In this role, volunteer tutors help a child become a successful reader. The volunteer tutor works on helping the student learn his/her sounds and strategies for figuring out new words they encounter when reading. Training available. Commitment involves 1 or more hours per week, during or after school.
After School Homework Helper - In this role, homework helpers aid children with basic help completing their homework in language arts and math. Commitment involves 1 or more hours per week.
Mentoring - In the role of mentor, the volunteer becomes a role model for a child by serving as a supportive adult in his or her life. It is an opportunity to share with a student your life history, occupational background, and life's lessons that have contributed to your success. Students need connections with people who have lived successful lives. Commitment involves 1 or more hours per week.
Library Assistant - The library volunteer assists in restoring a closed school library to full operations. Several of our schools do not have a functioning library. They have books and the space, but they need volunteers to catalogue books, and to serve as part-time librarians. Commitment involves 2 or more hrs per week.
Teacher Appreciation - The teacher appreciation volunteer does not work directly with students, but instead works to support teacher morale. Through periodic luncheons, gift bags, and special snacks, volunteers help to put a little wind in the sails of our teachers. The time commitment for this volunteer position is flexible and by arrangement.

PRAYER IN 2008
There are a number of ways you can connect with the body of Christ and deepen your relationship with our heavenly Father through prayer in this coming new year! Check out All Nations Prayer Ministries:
SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER
There is a prayer meeting at 10:00 AM each Sunday morning in the downstairs children's classroom. Get your spirit connected early to the God we love and serve and seek to know better in each Sunday's worship service.
ALL NATIONS PRAYER FENCE
All Nations also has a "Prayer Fence" in which needs are prayed for every four hours during the week by different individuals in our church. If you have a need or would like to participate in the "Prayer Fence," contact Nancy Ogden at Nancygrace99@yahoo.com.
PRAYER PARTNERS
Want a one-on-one "Prayer Partner?" You can also get hooked-up with a prayer partner through the help of the prayer ministry. Let them know if you want someone close to your age, in the same city, or someone of the same or different gender, or give them the name of someone you know, and they will help facilitate the connection.
HARBOR HOUSE
